MHB originally built this home in 2009 with an unfinished basement. Owners were now ready to complete the lower level by transforming it into a finished space. In a neighborhood full of kids, and with two children of their own, homeowners’ goal was to create a safe/fun gathering space. This unique basement remodel includes a custom fireplace with built in bookcases, a full bathroom, work out room, infrared sauna, and even a wet bar for adult entertaining. Wood LVP flooring was used throughout for ease of cleaning and to withstand increased use. Recessed can lighting combined with natural light illuminates the space finished in a light off-white color to create a feeling of warmth and welcomeness. Patio doors offer direct access without kids needing to tromp through the entire house to access this new basement hang out haven.

This project allowed us to greatly expand the living areas of our client’s home. The completed basement added two bedrooms, two baths, an office, exercise room, and living room with bar. This part of the home was meant to be cozier than the upstairs, but still a great space to entertain guests. The wet bar adjacent to the living area is perfect for late night guests or movie nights. The fireplace makes that space all the cozier year-round! Kohler products were heavily featured in both bathrooms as well as Cambria tops and custom cabinets. The lower-level access to the patio and backyard provides plenty of light to this lower level.

With a growing family, our clients needed to create additional space. At the top of their priority list was a dance studio for their daughters and ample room for entertaining guests.

A drab basement is now bright and welcoming and offers another 1,000 square feet of beautiful living space to our client’s home. The spacious great room includes an electric fireplace and dry bar and is now the perfect setting to entertain. Sliding barn doors separate the new dance studio from the great room. An egress window was included in the studio to create flexibility of future use and offer plenty of natural light to the space. A full bath also helped ease the demand the family had living on with only one bathroom.
