WBA Leadership

The Wisconsin Builders Association is guided by its Board of Directors and Executive Committee. The Board of Directors is comprised of approximately 150 members throughout the state and the Executive Committee is a group of 11, including senior officers.

The Board of Directors meet three times per year at WBA Member Meeting Days, and the Executive Committee meets an additional 4 times a year. New Executive Committee and Board of Directors members are sworn in each January.

We are deeply indebted to the hard work and dedication of our volunteer leadership!

Mike Derrick, President-Elect

Mike Derrick is a Project Manager for Derrick Custom Homes. He has worked for the company for the past 19 years after finishing his Bachelor of Science degree from Stout. His favorite part of the job is showing the happy customer their finished home. (SCVHBA, Derrick Custom Homes)

Andy Selner, Treasurer

Andy has been in the building industry for over 15 years and has experience managing projects ranging from a small room remodel to over a million dollar homes/condo projects. He brings the technical building knowledge, creativity and a great business mind. He is very active in all levels of the builders association. (BCHBA, Alair Homes Green Bay)

Mike Howe, Immediate Past President

Founder and owner of Mike Howe Builders, Inc., Mike set out to build his own Wisconsin Custom Home and has never looked back. With over 15 years of experience, Mike has built many dream homes, out-buildings, commercial projects and roofing projects for several clients in the Manitowoc area and enjoys a stellar reputation as a pacesetter in the building industry. Jody Swenson, Associate Vice President

Jody is a construction escrow coordinator with Knight Barry Title serving 16 counties on the west side of the state.  She is a member of the La Crosse Area Builders Association and is active within the Finance, Building Careers and Membership, Marketing & Education committees.  She has also served as a past president of LABA.  Jody is the WBA 2022 Membership & Local Officers Committee chair as well as being a member of the Finance Committee and Executive Committee.  She has earned the LABA Associate of the Year award as well as the President's Award and received the WBA Rising Star Award in 2021.  In her spare time, Jody enjoys outdoor concerts and music festivals, camping and volunteering.  Jody was honored to receive the Jefferson Award in May 2022 for her volunteer efforts in the La Crosse community.  Jody looks forward to building strong connections within WBA and helping to promote the trades throughout the state.  (LABA, Knight Barry Title)

Jason Chilson, Associate Vice President-Elect

Jason Chilson is the Wisconsin sales rep for Kafka Granite.  With a Construction Management Degree from UW-Stout, has been in the concrete construction and now specialty aggregate material industries covering Wisconsin in outside sales for over 17 years.  Jason was the WBA 2023 Membership Committee chair and teh President of the Wausau Area Builders Association. He also holds membership at Golden Sands and Madison Area Builders Associations. (WABA, GSHBA, MABA, Kafka Granite)

Brian McKee, NAHB State Representative

An active participant in his state and local home builders associations, McKee has held a number of leadership positions in WBA. He has been active as a WBA director since 1998 and served as an Area Vice President and Parliamentarian. McKee chaired the Building & Grounds Committee and the Public Relations Committee and has served on numerous other committees and councils, including Finance, Government Affairs, and Governance Bylaws.  In 2009, McKee was honored as WBA's Builder of the Year.  McKee is also involved at the national level and has served as a National Home Builders Association (NAHB) Director since 2008. McKee is an active member of the Madison Area Builders Association (MABA) and served as its President in 2002.    McKee has chaired MABA's Government Affairs committee and has served on several other committees, including Past Presidents, Finance, Silent Auction, and Parade of Homes.  In 2002, McKee was honored as MABA's Builder of the Year. David Belman, Past Officers Representative

Belman founded Belman Builders, the firm that handles all scattered site construction in 2000, where he also developed the companies unique vision, mission culture, and Porch to Patio Protection program. He also is the Builder lead for Operation Finally home in Wisconsin, an organization that provides mortgage-free homes to wounded war heroes and has completed six projects for the organization. A guest teacher at Waukesha County Technical College for their architecture/design and Real Estate Class, Belman is also a licensed Broker and Realtor. When David is not working (which is not very often) his wife Susan claims he is hyperactive and enjoys working out, playing basketball, Tae-Kwon-Do, swimming, playing games with his daughter, or watching movies. Ashly Hartmann, Membership & Local Officers Chair

Ashly, Vice President of RVI High Performance Building Experts, serves our association from her home in northern Wisconsin. RVI provides building science education to tradesmen and homeowners by delivering efficient solutions that maximize home performance, provide overall comfort, and bring peace of mind. With an entrepreneurial spirit, Ashly continually seeks opportunities to extend the educational reach of RVI to builders and tradesmen eager to understand the science of building.
